Do you “Know-tary” the difference between E-Notary & Remote Notarization?

An E-Notary is a Notary Public that is commissioned in its respective state and has the authorization to perform notarization electronically, meaning without the use of paper. The Notary Public and the signers are ALL PHYSICALLY AT THE SAME LOCATION. All other notarial procedures must be followed. The documents are usually signed and “sealed” on a PDF or word document and saved with encryption and other measures to protect it from alteration.

Remote Notarization, in most states, is a Notary Public that is commissioned in its respective state and has the authorization to perform notarization via VIDEO AND AUDIO and implements the digital signatures and seals. The notary and signers ARE PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. All other normal procedures must be followed. The documents are usually signed and “sealed” on a PDF or word document and saved with encryption and other measures to protect it from alteration.

Each state implements its regulations for E-Notary and Remote Notarization and are very conscientious of the security and requirements of the process.

Note: Remote Notarization is also known as Remote Online Notarization or RON
